I could probably just post this quote and leave it at that, because it really does sums up what I'm feeling. When we decided to start working toward achieving our dreams, we knew it would be hard. We knew we would make mistakes and have failures along the way. And it didn't take long to start feeling like we had taken on more than we could handle, especially with working full time jobs. So oftentimes it feels like we are so far from where we want to be. So when I look at all we did and didn't accomplish this last year, I am not hugely impressed with our overall progress. However I am still extremely impressed with the SIGNIFICANCE of our endeavor. As we step off the oil driven, prepackaged, lazyboy lifestyle we've grown so accustomed to, we realize we are on a journey of change is dripping in significance. On this journey that started with one small step and will be made up with many more, we are involved in a transformation that goes far beyond the transformation of our yard, gardens, rabbitry, or even diet. It goes to the core of who we are and who we wish to become. And as we know changing ourselves is way harder than changing the layout of a garden. So when we look at the significance of the endeavor we can truly appreciate and take encouragement from even the small steps and little victories in our life. A jar of canned tomatoes, a flat of seeds sprouting in a window, a smaller waistline or the smell of home raised meat in the crockpot is often enough to give us encouragement and resolve to keep fighting to more than fulfill our dream, but to continue to live it everyday!
